| Every batch of essential oils received at Young Living's laboratories-- whether grown at the Young Living farms or in a foreign country--is quarantined, inspected, and tested for purity and quality. Samples are sent to independent laboratories for analysis by state-of-the-art high-resolution gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy, and infrared spectral analysis. These tests unmask the chemical anatomy of each oil, exposing oils that may be impure, adulterated, or even improperly distilled. Some oils are subjected to further levels of testing at labs in England, France, and at Weber State University. Altogether, oils may go through five separate levels of quality analysis before they are released. Relying on certificates of analysis by independent labs is important in determining whether the oils you buy are therapeutic-grade, since the results of in-house, supplier-based labs may easily be distorted for self-serving ends. Simply showing higher peaks of desirable constituents does not necessarily mean the oil is either pure or superior. Higher peaks could, in fact, mean an oil is spiked with synthetics or inexpensive essential oil fractions. A rich and varied chemical profile is a far more important measure of quality and purity. OUR GUARANTEE: We guarantee unconditionally that all our essential oils meet the highest standards of purity and quality. Why is quality so important? All the amazing stories about the effectiveness of essential oils for improving almost every aspect of life presume that the oils being used are pure and, where standards have been established, of therapeutic grade. This is an extremely important point for two reasons:
So, it's important that you know what's in the bottle when you buy an essential oil. The label is not enough. There is no official regulation of essential oil quality in the U.S. Therefore, buyer beware: Be sure you purchase your essential oils from a company that can document that every drop it sells has been tested using credible, independent laboratories. |
